We’ve all heard our fair share of Drake, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift on our favorite radio stations, but what you probably haven’t heard are artists like Alabama Shakes, The ? and the Mysterians, Bleona Qereti and Jungle. These are some of the best artists you’ve never heard of, and we are here to help explain to you exactly who they are and what type of music they play.

The Alabama Shakes are a blues rock band that originated in the small town of Athens, Georgia. The band recently won three Grammy for their second album Sound & Color. This album is huge departure from what their first album’s sound revolved around. In this album the band focuses on breaking the genre barriers in music. A perfect example would be their songs Don’t Wanna Fight and Gimme All Your Love. There is a play with the vocals and tunes referencing to R&B and Rock. They are currently on tour and set to visit New York City for the Panorama Festival.
Era Istrefi (Pop)
An Albanian pop singer and songwriter, Era Istrefi rose to fame came in 2013 with the release of her first single Mani Per Money. During this period she was signed with Neser Music. Her song Bon Bon went viral on social media and gave her massive exposure to a certain extent. With the song’s success many assimilated her with a fusion between Rihanna and Sia. Era has officially signed under a new label Ultra Records. Bon Bon is definitely a song you want for your summer playlist. Don’t worry if you can’t understand her lyrics, you can Google Translate it.
The ? and the Mysterians
The Question Mark and the Mysterians are an American garage rock band who released their first project in 1962. Their first single was titled, “96 Tears” which became the number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966, and is their most successful song. The band was labeled a one-hit wonder even though they appeared on the top 100 chart three times in 1966, twice in the US and once in the UK. However they also made the top chart another three times, but only in the US in 1967 with songs released from their “Action” album.
Better known simply as Bleona, is an Albanian pop singer. She has been performing since the age of five and her career took off when she was cast on the Albanian version of “The Mickey Mouse Club”. From there on Bleona began to captivate the Albanian audience and went on to release eight studio albums. She has also worked with artists like Timbaland, Brasco, and Petey Pablo. Bleona’s music is very empowering to women and it shows in almost every song. She starred in Bravo’s series Euros of Hollywood where the viewer gets a glimpse of her journey on breaking into the American music scene. If you want to tune out to a great song listen to her most recent single Take You Over.
An American Punk Rock band that came from New York City and started playing in 1973. The band performed in a style that had never been seen or heard before. Most say “The Dictators” were ahead of their time, with some music critics crediting the band with helping revolutionize punk rock. At the start of the Punk-rock era The Dictators played fast paced, loud and aggressive music. They have also played alongside many greats such as KISS, Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen, and Blondie. They also have memorabilia from shows that they have played with sitting inside the Rock “n” Roll Hall of Fame.
Erika Giradi is an American artist who is better known by her stage name Erika Jayne. She recently made her onscreen debut on the hit reality television show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Erika’s tagline on the show is “I’m an enigma wrapped in a riddle and cash”. She definitely a rich b**** who can drop some fire songs. Erika Jayne has been in the music industry since 2007. She has 8 songs that have peaked number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart. The song PainKillr gives the person an idea as to what kind of gal she is. She recently previewed a clip from her upcoming music video for the single How Many that is set to release by the end of this month.
An English modern soul collective musical group that is based in London, the story of Jungle is a very interesting one. The group was founded in 2013 when Tom McFarland and Josh Lloyd-Watson and soon after they signed a record deal to the label ‘XL’. Jungle is known for their singles, remixes, and online music videos. In July 2014 they released their debut album “Jungle” and it was certified gold. The album charted in seven different countries and saw its highest number on the charts at number seven in the UK. Jungle also released three singles that have made the top charts as well with songs such as, “Busy Earnin”, “Time” and “The Heat”. In 2014 Jungle was awarded with the 13th best track of of the the “Top 50 Tracks of 2014” for their song “Busy Earnin”. The catchy tune makes you wanna hum this song all day.
